Partners, governments,civil society and communities worldwide mark October 24th of every year since 1995 as the world polio day. The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) is the largest private-public partnership in the world. It is said to have reduced polio by 99%. Howevr, 1% still thrives in the poorest countries in the world.
