Understanding Microblogging and the Supporting Technologies (1)

To understand Microblogging, let us look at Blog and Blogging first.

Blog (abbreviation for Weblog ) is a website where people or institutions publish their oponions on various topics or convey news of events regularly, while blogging is simply the practice of publishing contents on blog websites.

Blogging is simple. It does not require rigorous programming as other Web mastering projects would. Popular web platforms such as blogger.com, wordpress.com, movabletype.com, typepad.com, etc have made blogging much easier than ever.

Obama Signs Bill to End Partial Shutdown, Stave Off Debt Ceiling Crisis

Washington (CNN) -- It's over. But just for now.
President Barack Obama signed a bill that ends the 16-day partial government shutdown and raises the debt ceiling, the White House said early Thursday morning.
Weeks of bitter political fighting gave way to a frenzied night in Washington as Congress passed the bill that would prevent the country from crashing into the debt ceiling.
Lawmakers worked precariously close to the midnight debt ceiling deadline amid warnings the government could run out of money to pay its bills if it didn't raise the debt ceiling.
Federal workers should expect to return to work Thursday morning, the director of the Office of Management and Budget said.
Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell said employees should check the Office of Personnel Management's website for updates.
Yosemite National Park said it was already resuming operations Wednesday night.

Ministry of aviation confirms purchase of N255m vehicles for Oduah



So Sahara Reporters was right after all. Yesterday an aide of aviation minister Stella Oduah called the report 'mere rumour' but the ministry of aviation have confirmed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority indeed bought two bulletproof BMW cars worth $1.6m (N255m) for Ms Oduah.


Nigerians Software Engineers battles for N20M at 2013 Software Nigeria conference, competition and exhibitions

TINAPA knowledge city, Calabar, Cross River State, has expressed its readiness to host the 2013 Software Nigeria conference, competition and exhibitions, even as competitors battle for N20 million prize stake.

Twitter recently added a very cool and somewhat unproductive way of what I call strolling the social graph (a technical term some folks really don’t like, but offer no good replacement). It is called Blocks and allows you to graphically see who the people you are following follow and what they’re up to. The tool itself is very well designed and fun to use. The idea is that if you are following someone, you might be interested in who they are following too.
